Attorney Sydney T. Young is a dedicated family law attorney at Ryder & Phelps, specializing in divorce, child custody, and support arrangements, with a passion for representing clients in complex domestic violence cases. Attorney Young joined our firm in 2026, bringing with her a strong commitment to serving clients during challenging times and a focus on providing compassionate and trauma-informed guidance. Attorney Young manages and supports a caseload of family law matters, regularly appearing in court to advocate for clients in high-conflict and sensitive proceedings.
Attorney Young is a graduate of Suffolk University Law School, where she earned her Juris Doctorate in 2024 and was recognized as a Distinguished Oral Advocate. During law school, Sydney was actively involved in the Victim’s Advocacy Club, where she served as a Social Media Liaison, and participated in the McLaughlin Appellate Advocacy Competition. She also contributed to the Housing Discrimination Program and the Child and Family Law Association.
While at Suffolk, Sydney gained hands-on experience as a Rule 3:03 Student Attorney in the Family Advocacy Clinic, representing clients in Family and Probate and District Courts. In this role, she provided trauma-informed support to diverse clients, including non-English speakers, in emotionally charged family law and domestic violence cases.
Sydney’s professional background includes work as an Associate Attorney at Hera Law Group, where she independently managed family law cases from initial consultation through resolution. Additional experience includes clerkships at Cervizzi & Associates and Tentindo, Kendall, Canniff & Keefe, LLP, as well as a legal internship with the Women’s Bar Foundation, where Sydney conducted client intakes and advocated for low-income individuals. During the summer of her 1L year of law school, she interned with the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, supporting prosecutors in complex criminal cases.
Sydney holds a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, magna cum laude, from High Point University, where she was recognized as an Outstanding CRJ Student Scholar and participated in honor societies and the Mock Trial Team.
If not at the office, you can find Sydney spending time with her family and two labrador retrievers at the beach (when it’s warm enough in Massachusetts), running, reading, or (occasionally) writing.
