Attorney Nicole M. Cochis is a dedicated family law attorney at Ryder & Phelps, specializing in divorce, child custody, support arrangements, and asset division. With a focus on providing compassionate guidance, Attorney Cochis joined our firm in 2021, bringing with her a commitment to serving clients during challenging times. Attorney Cochis supports the firm’s training and development and excels in developing financial tools for analyzing complex financial situations and applying financial case law. Attorney Cochis helped spearhead the firm’s financial analyses library and works diligently to help clientele negotiate high equity compensation payment calculations with company stocks, stock options, and bonus interplay along with buyouts and market assessments.
A graduate of Northeastern University School of Law, Attorney Cochis takes pride in her holistic approach to lawyering. She goes beyond being a zealous advocate and works closely with clients to understand their unique goals and help them navigate the complexities of family law. She is known for balancing strong advocacy with support and strategic guidance.
During her time at Northeastern, Attorney Cochis gained invaluable experience as a Rule 3.03 certified student attorney at Greater Boston Legal Services. There, she represented clients throughout the divorce process, with a primary focus on assisting domestic violence victims and addressing intricate custody matters. Attorney Cochis also contributed her legal skills to the Committee for Public Counsel Services in the Children and Family Law division where she worked with parents involved in care and custody proceedings, ensuring their voices were heard.
Before pursuing her legal career, Attorney Cochis honed her skills as a judicial intern for The Honorable Joan S. Posner of the Dutchess County Family Court in the Ninth Judicial District of New York.
Attorney Cochis contributes to strategic case planning within the firm. She is involved in analyzing complex compensation structures and equitable division proposals, and works collaboratively with colleagues to strengthen financial strategy across the firm’s cases. Further, Attorney Cochis regularly represents clients in contested custody disputes, support modifications, and divorce proceedings involving parenting plans and everyday asset division, providing practical and steady advocacy across the full range of family law cases.
Outside of work, Nicole enjoys traveling, time outdoors, and spending time with family and friends.
